Spectra Web App Released!
A new browser-based spectral analysis tool is now live: Spectra is available for fast, local inspection of bioacoustic recordings directly in the browser.
Spectra is a browser-based spectrogram and spectrum viewer built for quick but careful inspection of bioacoustic recordings. It is designed to stay fast and local: you open files directly in the browser, tune the analysis settings, inspect the rendered view in detail, and export clean PNG figures without needing a desktop installation.
The tool is particularly useful when working with high-sample-rate recordings from bats and other ultrasonic sources, where it helps with reviewing structure, checking frequency ranges, comparing settings, and generating clear visuals for notes, reports, or manuscripts.
Current highlights include:
- local handling of audio files in the browser
- tunable spectrogram settings including FFT size, windowing, overlap, palette, and dynamic range
- spectrum inspection alongside the spectrogram workflow
- export of figure-ready PNG outputs
